Ella S. '25 has been selected for the prestigious High School Songwriting Summit (HSSS), becoming the first Sierra Canyon student to earn a place in this highly exclusive program.

The HSSS brings together top songwriting students from renowned institutions like the Interlochen Arts Academy, Los Angeles High School for the Arts, and the Orange County High School for the Arts for three days of collaboration, workshops, panels, and performances. The Summit took place from March 11-12 at the Los Angeles College of Music and Evergreen Recording Studios, culminating in a performance at UCLA on March 13.

Sierra Canyon's strong commitment to the arts and Mr. Sampson's mentorship have been instrumental in Ella's growth as a songwriter. "The knowledge and experience he has shared has given me the confidence and ability to do the program," she said. Under Mr. Sampson's guidance, she has refined her writing techniques and explored new approaches to composition. Ella's extensive experience on stage—having performed in 11 productions at Sierra Canyon—has further shaped her artistic voice, blending storytelling and performance to enrich her songwriting.

Ella's selection for the Summit is a testament to her exceptional talent and dedication to music. As a participant, she will join a distinguished group of young songwriters, many of whom have continued their studies at top institutions such as NYU, USC, and the University of Miami. Co-founded by Chris Sampson, Courtney Fortune, Courtney Kaiser-Sandler, and Natasha Pasternak, the Summit was created to cultivate collaboration, mentorship, and artistic growth among emerging songwriters.

Sierra Canyon Arts promotes insightful artistry, empowering students to reach their fullest potential and showcase their talents at the highest level. With dedicated faculty guiding their journey, students develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
