Sierra Canyon School is proud to have three Certified Athletic Trainers dedicated to supporting our Upper School athletic programs. Our Sports Medicine team prioritizes the well-being of every student-athlete, delivering patient-centered, movement-focused healthcare rooted in evidence-based practices. Working closely with coaches, athletes, parents, and department staff, they provide thoughtful and compassionate care, ensuring that the health and safety of our student-athletes remain at the forefront. At Sierra Canyon, we believe safeguarding our athletes' well-being is essential to fostering a positive and successful athletic experience.
Care provided by the Sierra Canyon Sports Medicine staff can be divided into four areas:
- Prevention of athletic injuries and illness
- Emergency and acute care of injuries and illnesses
- Recognition, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and referral (when necessary) for student-athlete injuries and illnesses
- Patient focused health and wellness education
The Sierra Canyon athletic training room is located at the east end of the Sierra Canyon Upper Campus Gym. Athletes can get injury evaluations or treatment for athletic injuries between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Walk-ins for athletic-related injuries are encouraged during an individual's free period(s) or lunch during the school day.
Throughout the year, athletic trainers attend many athletic events, including practices and competitions. When available, they travel with varsity-level teams for away competitions, ensuring our athletes are well taken care of no matter where they compete.
Summer availability is limited to summer practices only between June and August.
