Last week, Sierra Canyon's 6th Grade students participated in International Book Giving Day.

International Book Giving Day is a global initiative dedicated to spreading the joy of reading by encouraging individuals to share books with one another. The Class of 2031 wholeheartedly embraced this mission through a thoughtful classroom book exchange. This entirely voluntary effort saw every student participate, transforming the experience into a meaningful celebration.

Each student completed a form detailing their reading preferences before randomly drawing a classmate's name. They then carefully selected books for their peers, wrapped them, and exchanged them during a memorable Valentine's Day gathering. Through this experience, students reinforced one of the Character Program's guiding principles: Kindness. By exchanging books, they shared the joy of reading and strengthened their sense of community.

As we reflect on this event, it is evident that kindness—much like a well-chosen book—has the power to connect, inspire, and leave a lasting impression.
