Sierra Canyon students have once again demonstrated exceptional creative talent, earning top honors for this year's Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards.
The Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards represent the nation's longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. Students initially compete at the regional level, submitting work in visual art categories such as photography, filmmaking, sculpture, and mixed media art, as well as writing categories, including short stories, dramatic scripts, and poetry. Several Trailblazers earned Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention awards at the regional level. The Gold Key is the highest award at the regional level, and winning this honor automatically advances students' work to the national level.
Jack's powerful photograph of Trailblazers football defensive back Jae-on Y. '25 earned him a Gold Medal at the national level. As a result, he and his Photography II teacher, Mr. O'Reilly-Rowe, have been invited to participate in the Scholastic National Awards Week in New York City this June. The awards ceremony will take place at Carnegie Hall, and Jack's photograph will be displayed alongside the works of other top student artists in an exhibition at Scholastic's headquarters in Manhattan.
Sierra Canyon's vibrant arts program fosters a culture where creativity is celebrated, and students are supported in reaching their highest potential. With dedicated faculty, real-world opportunities, and a curriculum that encourages bold expression, students are empowered to develop their artistic voices and thrive. Their success in the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards is a powerful reflection of the program’s impact and the talent it nurtures.
