In a testament to leadership and community service, Upper School students Sarah S. '27 and Jordan S. '26 led a Shoes For Souls donation drive to support those impacted by the recent wildfires.
Their efforts began with an initial delivery of 600 pairs of shoes collected through Shoes For Souls to the Santa Anita Park distribution center in Arcadia. Recognizing the overwhelming need, they returned to school and rallied the Sierra Canyon community to take action. The additional collection brought in over 1,000 more pairs of shoes, which were delivered to the Dream Center in Echo Park, an organization providing essential resources to those in crisis.
For Sarah, the extent of the need became clear upon delivering the donations. "Seeing people lined up in cars for over a mile was when it hit me the most. Those affected needed our help, and I am so proud to be a member of the Sierra Canyon community. We all helped make a difference in the lives of others," she said.
Founded by Lindsay S. '22, Shoes For Souls has donated over 68,000 pairs of shoes to individuals experiencing homelessness and financial hardship. Through initiatives like this, students continue to demonstrate leadership, service, and a commitment to making a tangible difference. To learn more, visit www.shoesforsouls.com.
