A project well utilized in the professional world and art schools across America from Kindergarten to High School to College and Art Schools is the culmination and reflection of the artist/designer process and progress in creating and presenting portfolios.

Professional artists use portfolios as a calling card or visual resume. It's a collection of works developed over time to showcase their skills and acquire job opportunities. Portfolios are also used as assessment tools in schools to help students progress from one level to another. At Sierra Canyon, students at the highest level use the portfolio model to gain entrance to art colleges and universities. As unique as an artist can be individually is how distinct the student's creative spark is, their response to prompts, their approach to art making, and the manipulation of common materials.

Students in Ms. Sloan's classes reflected on and considered the work they had created throughout this year and/or in previous years in other courses, combining it into a digital portfolio. Click here to view several examples of images from our student artists' portfolios. This year has been productive and engaging across all the Arts at Sierra Canyon.
