In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Upper Campus community welcomed Vicente Fox, former president of Mexico from 2000 to 2006.

During Community Time, President Fox talked about his life's trajectory, upbringing, and political career. He is a prominent Mexican politician who made history by becoming the first president of a party other than the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in over seven decades, effectively ushering in the opportunity for other parties to be elected in the country's successful transition to democracy. Charisma and fervent belief in economic reforms underscored his prominence and Presidency.

As our special guest shared the many challenges he faced as a leader, he also stressed the significance of having a purpose behind our actions. Relating his experience and vision with our students, he encouraged them to think about why they make certain choices. President Fox's main point was that leadership is not just about having power; it is about being compassionate and caring for others. He emphasized that true leaders prioritize the well-being of their community over personal gain.

At Sierra Canyon, embracing global perspectives and cultures stems from our strong desire to celebrate one another and acknowledge the valuable contributions that each of us has the power to make in our community, ultimately strengthening it. By emphasizing the importance of compassionate leadership, President Fox reinforced our core values and empowered students to embrace their unique backgrounds while always considering the well-being of others.
