Kindergarten students suited up for a week of fire safety and emergency preparedness.

The Class of 2036 attended a presentation on Monday by firefighter Ron Haralson (Bilen '36) in the Lower Campus Amphitheater regarding the importance of fire safety. Mr. Haralson brought his firefighting gear, and students were eager to try on the equipment and experience what it feels like to be a real firefighter. After the presentation, they each received a helmet, a fire safety book, and a badge sticker. These honorary firefighters were eager to share all they learned with their families and ready to create a fire safety plan to use at home. But the excitement did not end there because their next stop was the fire station.

On Thursday, SC parent and resident firefighter at Station 28, Dominic Roux (Xavier '33, Roman '36), and the entire team at the station gave these Trailblazers a tour of the facility while also teaching them what it takes to be a firefighter. Students were thrilled to see the fire trucks up close and learn about all the different tools and equipment firefighters use in an emergency.

Kindergarten families contributed goodies that the students hand-delivered to Station 28. They were thrilled to personally thank these first responders for their service and show appreciation for their dedication and bravery.

Our Kindergarten students are now equipped with the knowledge they need to stay safe in a fire emergency. A special thank you to the entire team at Station 28 and our stellar parent volunteers!
