Sierra Canyon Arts Celebrates Winter Shows

Sierra Canyon's Winter Performing Arts Showcases filled both campuses with festive energy, highlighting students' talent and growth while celebrating a successful fall semester.

On the Upper Campus, Mrs. Kibarska's 8^th through 12^th Grade dance students captivated the audience with a spectacular Winter Dance Showcase. The performances featured original contemporary, hip-hop, and jazz pieces choreographed by students Eliza F. '25, Ava N. '25, Alexis O. '26, Haley A. '25, Lola N. '26, Sophia C. '27, Zariah K. '27, Kai G. '26, and Lucy F. '27. "I cannot express how much it means to me to have a space where I can express myself in my most authentic way," shared Eliza. "I can only hope that my work resonates with my audience, but in the end, it is enough to have created something I enjoy."

The following week, Mr. Davis's Upper Campus Music classes were featured in the highly anticipated Winter Music Showcase. From the soulful melodies of Stevie Wonder to the dynamic rhythms of Bruno Mars, each performance underscored the remarkable range of our student musicians. A highlight of the evening was the debut of Sierra Canyon's first-ever 8^th Grade-only ensemble, whose outstanding performance marked a significant milestone for the Music Department. This concert celebrated not only the technical excellence of our Upper Campus musicians but also their ability to engage and inspire their audience.

The Lower School Winter Performing Arts Assembly celebrated a diverse showcase of student talent. Festive melodies filled the air as Lower School musicians, accompanied by the Choir, delivered a delightful performance of seasonal favorites. Students from the afterschool Musical Theater enrichment program delighted the crowd with a preview of their upcoming Wizard of Oz production. The excitement continued with the energetic performances of the Lower School Step Team and Dance Company.

The Winter Performing Arts events exemplify the remarkable diversity and depth of our Arts Department. By providing students with opportunities to explore various art forms and showcase their unique talents, Sierra Canyon demonstrates its unwavering commitment to cultivating artistic excellence and fostering creativity at every grade level.
