On Tuesday, November 26, Sierra Canyon's Lower Campus celebrated the 14th annual Grandparents and Friends Day.
This cherished tradition brought together over 500 "grands," with many traveling from across the country and even internationally to spend a special morning with their grandchildren.
The event began with "grands" spending meaningful time with their student(s)—enjoying a light breakfast, browsing the Spirit Store, exploring the campus, and capturing memories at the photo booth. The joyful energy carried into The Barn, where the Lower School Chamber Ensemble set the tone with a beautiful musical performance. Associate Head of School and Upper Campus Director Stephanie Rubin warmly welcomed attendees and introduced the Lower School Chorus, which delivered a touching rendition of "Memories" by Maroon 5. Following the performance, Head of School Jim Skrumbis and senior Lifer Hannah L. '25 shared heartfelt remarks about the importance of grandparent participation and their vital role in our vibrant community.
After the assembly, attendees delighted in joining their students in the classrooms, immersing themselves in creative crafts, interactive games, and hands-on activities.
The rooms buzzed with excitement as they collaborated on projects, exchanged smiles, and cherished quality time together, punctuating the program with grand insight into our students' daily engagement.
Grandparents and Friends Day offers a unique opportunity for our students to share their educational journey with those who have helped shape their lives, bridging generations through meaningful interactions. It is a day filled with joy, connection, and inspiration and a reminder of the lasting impact these relationships have on the growth and success of our Trailblazers.
