On Tuesday, October 10, Mme. du Cos de La Hitte's AP French students enjoyed a special visit from notable French actor Omar Sy.

As part of their studies of French society and historical events, specifically focusing on the themes of family and community, students watched the original version of the French film "Les Intouchables," starring Omar Sy and Francois Cluzet. As a distinguished Sierra Canyon parent (Alijah '27), Mr. Sy was delighted to share his experience, anecdotes about the making of the movie, and his most memorable moments.

In addition to discussing the film, Mr. Sy enthusiastically shared his passion for the movie industry and emphasized the need for love and patience in all endeavors. He stressed the importance of family and friendship, highlighting how these connections expand one's community and ultimately contribute to the world. "Getting to ask him questions and seek advice about his personal experiences as an actor was very insightful, motivating, and exciting," said Chance C. '23.

Welcoming guest speakers into the classroom adds personal experience to the lessons, making learning more compelling and memorable. It enriches the educational process and inspires students to pursue their passions and interests with dedication and purpose. "Mr. Sy's above pertinent remarks perfectly illustrate one of the six major themes studied in the AP French course," said Mme. du Cos de La Hitte, highlighting the exploration of French society within the curriculum.

The AP French students were elated by this uplifting talk, and we are incredibly grateful to Mr. Sy for making this fantastic visit possible.
