On Monday, January 22, Mme. du Cos de La Hitte's French II and French II Honors students celebrated the annual "French Feast."

As a culmination of an engaging chapter about food and grocery stores, this lesson allowed students to delve into the intricacies of grammar and vocabulary and participate in a unique hands-on experience that went beyond traditional academics. The immersive nature of the French Feast empowered students to unleash their culinary creativity and discover hidden talents. The event also served as a platform for students to share their skills, fostering a collaborative and enriching learning environment.

One of the highlights of this interactive activity was exploring the French approach to table setting, where students learned the proper arrangement of different utensils and the sequential order of a French meal. This attention to detail added an authentic touch and broadened the students' cultural understanding. The feast ranged from several appetizers, such as quiche and onion soup, to main courses, such as steak au poivre, boeuf bourguignon, chicken in cream and mushroom sauce, ratatouille (two different recipes), haricots verts, and many more. A French meal could only be complete with cheese, baguettes, and desserts, creating endless choices.

The students enthusiastically embraced this culinary adventure, celebrating the joy of cooking and sharing a meal. They also deepened their connection with the language they were studying, focusing on an essential component of French culture: gastronomy.
