Trailblazer News

This summer, our 5th Grade students dove into a literary adventure, exploring Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt or Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate.

Students engaged in thoughtful group discussions to bring their reading experience to life, focusing on key elements of their chosen novels, such as characters, plots, and themes. These discussions allowed them to dive deeper into the stories and share their interpretations with one another. Each group then collaborated to create a poster with colorful and creative illustrations that captured their understanding of the novel, blending artistic creativity with literary analysis.

Students enthusiastically presented their posters to the class, discussing their perspectives on the books. Their classmates listened attentively, asked thoughtful questions, and offered feedback, leading to meaningful conversations. This project fostered a supportive learning environment where students gained confidence while sharing their insights and working together as a team.

The activity set a positive tone for the new school year, fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and connection. It offered a fun, interactive way for our Trailblazers to kick off the academic year while strengthening bonds with their peers.
