The 2024 Alumni Reunion was a remarkable evening filled with nostalgia, celebration, and reconnection amongst old friends.
Held on Saturday, June 1, on the Lower Campus, this year's event honored the graduating Classes of 2009 (15 years—SC's very first graduating class), 2014 (10 years), and 2019 (5 years), making it our first reunion to celebrate three graduating classes simultaneously and our largest reunion gathering to date.
In addition to the evening's honorees, many current and former faculty members came out to catch up with their former students, including Jaime Winetrobe, Bruce Buenaventura, Jenny Hernandez, Deborah Whitlock-Trotter, Noah Salamon, Joseph Pflieger, Jessica Ricci, Laura Reardon, and Jim and Dina Skrumbis. Alums specially requested each of our faculty members in attendance, as they can list any faculty they would like to see at the event when they RSVP. We were also honored to have special guests and school founders Howard Wang and Mick Horwitz join the festivities. As for our youngest guests, 2024 was the first year some of our alums brought their own little Trailblazers to the party, adding an extra layer of joy to the gathering.
Attendees spent time reminiscing with old friends and faculty, and participating in some fun activities, thanks largely to the dedicated efforts of the Alumni Reunion Committee, who began meeting in January to start planning. Members of the 2024 Reunion Committee included Ava Calderon '19, Brianna Huddleston (LaCroix) '14, Bret Johanneson '14, Adrian Moreira-Behrens '19, and Kyra Williams (Hill) '14. Their creativity added a fun raffle for baskets filled with SC swag and some unique donations from Tyler Small '14, Understanding Diggs '14, and Brianna, a lively photo booth, and tables adorned with old yearbooks, sparking countless memories and conversations.
The reunion concluded with a tour of our new Multipurpose Gymnasium on the Lower Campus, affectionately named The Barn. Alums were impressed as they toured the many campus developments and latest modern facilities, which testify to Sierra Canyon's commitment to providing top-notch amenities for our students. The tour continued with a visit to the athletic fields, a highlight for many attendees who hadn't seen the impressive enhancements since their graduation.
The 2024 Alumni Reunion is now complete, and everyone had a fantastic time! We look forward to seeing this group again in 2029 as we gather once again to celebrate the enduring spirit of Sierra Canyon and the lifelong connections our Trailblazer ties bring us.
